MORE ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Honor the ancestors, celebrate life, and piece together history.
Join us for a meaningful, hands-on cultural workshop at Casa Cultural de Bembé. This year, our fundraiser is deeply rooted in the traditions of Dia de los muertos (Day of the Dead). Guided by local community artist Andy Lira-Landa, we will come together to craft a mosaic masterpiece celebrating memory, heritage, and intergenerational connection.
Participants will learn the ancient art of glass mosaic crafting—symbolically pieceing together vibrant calaveras (sugar skulls), bright cempasúchil (marigold) patterns, and sacred ancestral imagery. Absolutely no artistic experience is required. Every cut, tile, and placing contributes directly to keeping youth arts education accessible in our city.
Proceeds from this event directly fund the upcoming academy workshops, community dinners, and youth programming at Bembé Drum & Dance.
