2026 CASTING

DEADLINE: APRIL 16, 2026

Bembé! Journey the Atlantic is Bembé’s annual theatrical performance, offering a stage for an intergenerational cast of artists to interpret and embody the many traditions of the Afro-Latino Cultural Arts Diaspora. Audience members experience ancestral, oral musical traditions passed on through generations to today, centering the African roots of Latino culture.

IMPORTANT CAST & AUDITION INFORMATION

For the 2026 production of JTA, cast members should be:

  • Ages 12-24

  • Registered by April 16th, 2026, confirming availability for all rehearsals and performances

  • Participate in an Audition April 18th to be cast into specific roles, which may not include an on-stage role

Note: Cast members older than 24 will be invited to join the cast by creative directors. Participants younger than 12 are invited to join Academia Bembé’s summer program, which will include opportunities for public performances.

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

2026 SHOW DATES: Friday, August 7, 7:30pm; Saturday, August 8, 2:30pm and 7:30pm

SHOW LOCATION: Next Act Theater, 355 S. Water Street, Milwaukee, WI 53204

CAST REHEARSALS: JTA cast members are required to attend rehearsals every Saturday, 1:30-3:30pm, from April 18-August 1, and every Wednesday evening , 6-7:30pm from May 13-June 10th, with no more than two planned absences. Rehearsals will take place at Casa Bembé, 611 S. Layton Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53215
