Casting for Bembé’s Journey the Atlantic
August 7-8, 2026 @ Next Act Theater
¡Bembé! Journey the Atlantic is Bembé’s annual theatrical performance, offering a stage for an intergenerational cast of artists to interpret and embody the many traditions of the Afro-Latino Cultural Arts Diaspora. Audience members experience ancestral, oral musical traditions passed on through generations to today, centering the African roots of Latino culture.
For the 2026 production of JTA, Cast Members must be:
Ages 12-24 to register
Attend an audition at Casa Bembé on Saturday, April 18
Important Note on Casting: Additional adult/elder cast members will be by invitation only. Youth under the age of 12 are encouraged to register for Academia Bembé’s summer programs, which will include opportunities for public performances.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
2026 SHOW DATES: Friday, August 7th 7:30pm; Saturday, August 8th, 2:30pm and 7:30pm
SHOW LOCATION: Next Act Theater, 255 S. Water Street, Milwaukee WI 53204
CAST REHEARSALS: JTA cast members are required to attend rehearsals every Saturday, 1:30-3:30pm, from April 18th-August 1st, and every Wednesday, 7:00-8:30pm from May 13-July 29th, with no more than two planned absences. Rehearsals will take place at Casa Bembé, 611 S. Layton Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53215
TECH WEEK: All Cast Members must be able to attend the full Tech Week Schedule of rehearsals, Monday, August 3-Thursday, August 6. Exact Times to be determined but will consist of six hours per day, scheduled between the hours of 10AM-7PM, taking place at Next Act Theater.
